After the success of Mi 4, Xiaomi is set to launch its next flagship device Mi 5. The follow-up device has become the talk of the town and it is expected to be announced any day now.
The highly anticipated Mi 5 is expected to be introduced with some great feature upgrades. Based on the reports swirling around, the Mi 4's successor will host upgrades in display, operating system, camera, display and more.
According to the rumours, Mi 5 will allegedly be slightly bigger than Mi 4. While Mi 5 will come with 5.3 inch screen with 1440 X 2560 pixels resolution and MIUI 6.0, Mi 4 sports 5.0 inch screen with 1080X 1920 resolution and MIUI 5.0.
The Xiaomi's latest smartphone will boast Qualcomm Snapdragon 820 with Quad-core 2.2 GHz & quad-core 1.8 GHz processor that is expected to enhance its performance and curb heating issues. Mi 4 runs Qualcomm Snapdragon 801 with Quad-core 2.5 GHz Krait 400.
Mi 5 chipset is expected to feature 4GB RAM for both its 16 and 64 GB variant. As for Mi 4, it comes with 3GB RAM.
One of the most exciting feature upgrade will be in Mi 5's camera. The upcoming device is expected to feature a 16 MP primary camera compared to 13 MP in Mi 4. Changes are anticipated in secondary camera as well, but it won't be an upgrade. While Mi 4 has 8MP front camera, Mi 5 will carry a 6MP camera.
A major upgrade will be seen in the upcoming device's operating system. Mi 5 will run on latest Android OS, v5.1.1 Lollipop. The current variant comes with upgradable v4.4.3 KitKat.
Meanwhile, a recently leaked image suggests that Mi 5 will come with some new features. According to Tech Zoom (via Firstpost.com), the photo confirms that Mi 4 successor will come with a fingerprint scanner that works on ultrasound technology.
More reports claim that latest leaks hints at a design possibly similar to recently released Galaxy Note 5. According to Mobile-Dad.com (via Christian Today), the image shows curved glass back. It is also speculated that the Xiaomi's Mi 5 will have a metal frame and two speaker outlets at the bottom of the device along with the latest USB Type-C connector. It will be packed with 2.5D Gorilla Glass protection.
Xiaomi is yet to reveal the official release date. However, it is said that Mi 5 will be released later in 2015. As for its price, it is expected to be made available at around $386. In the absence of official announcement and comments, it is advised to consider information inconclusive and as mere speculations.
