"The Mindy Project" is set to return with season 4 on Sept. 15 on Hulu. The romantic comedy series will show how Mindy (Mindy Kaling), a gynaecologist who knows everything about pregnant women, but nothing about babies, accidentally gets pregnant and dabbles in motherhood.
"The Mindy Project" season 3 ended in a cliffhanger as Danny (Chris Messina) went to India to meet Mindy's parents. The meeting, apparently, did not work out and Mindy's parents are once again arranging different blind dates with Indian men for their daughter to find the right groom in the upcoming season.
In the season 4 premiere episode, pregnant Mindy, with no whereabouts of Danny in India, starts imagining what her life would have been if she had not met Danny when "Days Of Summer" star Joseph Gordon Levitt makes an appearance as her husband in her imaginary alternate reality world.
Another guest star to appear in the season 4 premiere episode is Frieda Pinto, who will star as Danny's imaginary hot Indian girlfriend.
Other characters to be introduced in the upcoming season are Mindy's parents, which will be played "House Of Cards" actress Sakina Jeffrey and Ajay Mehta, TV Line reported. Although they are always mentioned in the series, this is the first time that they will actually be shown on screen, desperately trying to find the right groom for their daughter.
"The Big Bang Theory" star Kunal Nayyar will also be guest-star in the show to play the role of a successful hedge fund manager who has been arranged to be married with her.
"The Mindy Project" season 4 episode 2 will show the birth of Mindy's baby boy, Leo. Although the child will not appear in the every episode, he will very much become the center of Mindy's life who in turn will leave no stone unturned to become a hands-on supermom, USA Today reported.
