"Allegiant - Part 1" stars Theo James and Shailene Woodley recently revealed why they believe the movie will have the same ending with the book.
In an interview with MTV News, book author Veronica Roth explained her decision to stick to the book's ending, where Woodley's Tris will be killed off.
"In the third book, she learns what it actually means to sacrifice herself. It has to be necessary. It has to be about love. She says all those things. To me, it felt like it was her finally understanding what her parents were trying to teach her in Abnegation and finally understanding what it means to be an adult...," she said.
During the same interview, Roth said that she spoke with Woodley ahead of the filming for "Allegiant." The two of them discussed whether or not Tris should also be killed off in the film.
Roth said that Woodley was more than open to the idea of having her character killed off because she understands that it's part of Tris' journey.
"I think they knew I would only do it if it worked or if it felt like the only way it could end," she said.
Meanwhile, there are reports that James did not also have any problems with Tris being killed off in "Allegiant."
The actor, who takes his acting very seriously, understood that it was necessary for the development of Woodley and his character as well, according to Venture Capital Post.
"Allegiant - Part 1" is slated to hit theaters in the United States on Mar. 18, 2016.
