The sci-fi action movie "Star Wars: The Force Awakens" Episode VIII shooting is starting this month in Ireland.
Entertainment Weekly has corrected some erroneous reports that instead of starting the shooting some sequences, there would be forming of a group again for reshooting. And now, the plan has been cleared that the sequel merely started this month with Director Rian Johnson.
The shooting has first capture the landscape images that would be enhanced later on with "Star Wars" style effects. There is no cast needed yet.
In addition, this part of the shooting is aiming to have a low-key nature to keep the people from knowing that the sequel "The Force Awakens" is supposedly currently a secret. However, as the Skellig Michael Island that is off the southern coast of Ireland is semi-public, reports got out naturally.
While the shooting is ongoing, an ecologist and some observers from the Irish's National Parks and Wildlife Service and the National Monuments Service will be monitoring the shooting to protect the wildlife habitats and archeological sites of the island.
Anyhow, the Lucasfilm production already agreed that the guidelines already set in place for protecting the island would be strictly followed with regard to Ireland's Arts Minister Heather Humphries' concerns on how the filming would be handled on the said island. Moreover, she was the one who confirmed the news regarding the new sequel of "Star Wars" that is ongoing at this time.
Slash Film also reported that the sequel will be released on Dec. 16 in some countries and will hit the worldwide theaters on May 26, 2017.
