NASA and other scientists agree that September 28 this 2015 is extraordinary - a Blood Moon will occur on that same day and it is a celestial spectacle to anticipate. But to some, Apocalypse looms as they embrace the prophecy that an asteroid or meteor will impact on Earth and wipe out humanity.
Christian pastor John Hagee is convinced that the September 28 Blood Moon is the culmination of Tertrad or the last of the four consecutive lunar eclipses that started April 14 last year. "The coming four blood moons points to a world-shaking event that will happen between April 2014 and October 2015," Hagee was reported by News.com.au as saying.
His ally, Mark Blitz, also head of a U.S.-based Christian church, believes that Blood Moon Prophecy foretells a chain of events that will immediately follow the September 28 lunar eclipse. Scientists explain that on that day, the Earth's lone natural satellite will get closer than usual and will radiate the light it gathers from the sun thus emitting a golden-copper or reddish reflection. To the naked eye, the moon turns to red, which explains the Blood Moon label.
But Blitz said there is more to the coming September 28 Blood Moon that science is unable to explain. For him, the heavenly event will be followed by the so-called Rapture or the pre-event to the prophesied Second Coming of Jesus Christ. Christians believe that during Rapture true believers will disappear from Earth and likely taken to Heaven.
Those left behind will have to deal with what will happen next and it will be catastrophic, according to Rev. Efrain Rodriguez. Described by the Daily Mirror as a self-style prophet, Rodriguez has been peppering NASA with his visions of destructive fire raining down on Earth and destroy its civilization. Rodriguez claims that our planet will be reduced to ashes by a massive asteroid.
What to follow are epic earthquakes and tsunamis that will kill millions. And Rodriguez insists what he delivers are messages coming from God. For their part, Hagee and Blitz point to biblical passages to support the predictions they share.
NASA, however, is not buying the arguments. While assuring that it is in constant guard for possible asteroid threats the U.S. space agency flatly dismissed the likelihood of an asteroid or a comet on a trajectory that leads to a direct collision course with Earth. "NASA knows of no asteroid or comet currently on a collision course with Earth, so the probability of a major collision is quite small," The Independent quoted a statement of the agency as saying.
NASA also declares that for the next hundred years or more, Earth will not be visited by any colossal space object thus eliminating the possibility of a devastating deep impact, as feared by believers of the Blood Moon Prophesy, anytime soon.
