UFC Women's Bantamweight Champion, Ronda Rousey, will play Patrick Swayze's role in a cult classic.
Just a month ago, the iconic MMA fighter lobbied for a role as comic book superhero, Captain Marvel, while doing a memorable reddit AMA with fans. However, it seems like Rousey's star is headed to a different direction, as MGM signed her for the remake of Road House.
The 1989 film featured Swayze as James Dalton, a bouncer at a newly renovated roadside bar called Double Deuce, who looks after a humble town in Missouri and protects it from a crooked businessman.
Initial reports state that the reboot of Road House begins filming next year.
In addition, Ronda Rousey has - seemingly - received the blessing of Patrick Swayze's widow, Lisa Niemi.
During her so-called "downtime" in between fights, the women's 135-pound champ has been lighting up the big screen with supporting roles in Hollywood Blockbusters such as Expendables 3, Furious 7, and Entourage.
As of today, there are three other movies lined up for Rousey. First will be a Peter Berg-directed film called, Mile 22, which she will star alongside Mark Wahlberg and Iko Uwais.
"Rowdy" is also scheduled to play a role in Warner Bros.' The Athena Project, as well as top the bill in the film adaptation of her best-selling book, My Fight/Your Fight.
Last August, she knocked out Brazilian contender, Bethe Correia, in Rio de Janeiro to retain her UFC Women's Bantamweight title.
Rousey is slated to headline UFC 193 at the Etihad Stadium in Melbourne, Australia against fellow undefeated fighter, Holly Holm.
With sold out fights and films left and right, Ronda Rousey's star will definitely shine whichever direction it chooses to go.
