James Gunn's "Guardians of the Galaxy: Vol. 2" is going to be grander not only with its characters, but also with its visual effects.
"Guardians of the Galaxy" VFX supervisor Christopher Townsend told Cinema Blend that the visuals, along with the story telling, will be major parts of the film's driving force in perplexing and thrilling the audience. Townsend added that Gunn's first film already had the fans' appreciation for the characters and he considers it an advantage for the film sequel. Overall, he said that he was excited for the film.
In his interview with Studio Daily on Feb. 10, "Guardians of the Galaxy" VFX co-supervisor Stephane Ceretti said that MPC and Frameworks helped them achieve the film's success with the creation of two of the Guardians. Ceretti revealed that MPC created the talking tech-saavy raccoon Rocket while Frameworks served as the creator of the humanoid tree Groot.
With the special effects instilled in Gunn's "Guardians of the Galaxy," the film was nominated in the Visual Effects category, along with Joe Russo and Anthony Russo's Marvel Comics film "Captain America: The Winter Soldier."
