The live action adaptation of "Boruto: Naruto the Movie" has reportedly started filming. Following the success of the movie, Lionsgate wanted to produce an adaptation to be directed by Michael Gracey.
Although it has yet to be confirmed if Lionsgate already received the go signal from Naruto creator Masashi Kishimoto, The Bit Bag claimed that the huge success of the film helped sealed the deal.
The publication, however, explained that Lionsgate has yet to release an official statement about the live adaptation. The outlet speculated that the film producers may still be waiting if the phenomenal box office success of "Boruto: Naruto the Movie" will be replicated overseas.
The film earned a whopping 2.02 billion yen when it premiered in Japan last August 7, making it the highest grossing movie in the franchise to date. The movie is expected to hit US theatres on Oct. 10.
In other news, Breathe Cast reported that apart from the Naruto live adaptation, Lionsgate is also working on other popular mangas "Akira" and "Death Note."
The outlet added that the production has also been working on the live adaptation of "A Ghost in the Shell," with Scarlett Johnasson playing Major Motoko Kusanagi.
In spite of the lackluster performance of other anime-based movies such as "Speed Racer" and "Dragon Ball Evolution" in the box office, the production company remained hopeful that the upcoming films will have a different fate.
It was said that the writers and producers already took into consideration the comments from both critics and viewers to ensure that their latest offerings will not disappoint the fans.
