It appears that Samsung will attempt to kill the iPhone 6S by deploying its 2016 flagship, the Galaxy S7, with the specs and features mostly not found on the new Apple smartphone. The S7 on release date will impress with dual-camera, two screen versions and the option to expand the built-in memory.
As the iPhone 6S reveal further raised the bar of the already fierce smartphone competition, Samsung it seems is not backing down. Fresh from the sufficiently impressive duo of the Galaxy Note 5 and S6 Plus, the South Korean tech giant intends to slug it out with 2015 Apple flagships via the Galaxy S7 push.
Dual-camera system
The 6S main shooter got the much-anticipated bumped of 12MP but Samsung plans to overwhelm what Apple has done by equipping the GS7 with a dual-camera set up, G4Games said in a new report. Dual-camera was first rumored as a key iPhone 6S upgrade but as it turned out, Apple skipped the feature.
Nothing specific was given on the supposed Galaxy S7 dual-camera capability but it was earlier suggested that smartphones with the same shooting feature will practically boast of producing clips and stills with DSLR-class quality.
Two editions
And like the iPhone 6S and 6S Plus, the Galaxy S7 will be available in two screen sizes. One will be a 5.2-inch model that dwarfs over the 4.7-inch 6S and a 5.8-inch model that stretches a bit from the 5.5-inch 6S Plus.
The 5.2-inch Galaxy S7 is projected to wow with pixel density of 847 pixels per inch or ppi while the jumbo S7 at 5.8-inch should provide top-notch mobile viewing experience with display panel of 759ppi, G4Games said in a separate report.
Expandable memory
Now to purportedly to correct one minor mistake in the Galaxy S6 and the Note 5, as well as to edge out the Apple iPhone 6S, Samsung is reportedly planning to bring back microSD support on its flagship devices starting with the Galaxy S7.
To unbox with the device on 2016 is a memory slot that will accommodate up to 128GB of microSD card. However, the decision will also mean that the S7 will only come in 32GB and 64GB storage configurations. It is likely too that replaceable battery will not make a comeback to the Galaxy flagship line anytime soon as Samsung is bent on stocking to the metal and glass build of its high-end handsets, G4Games said.
The Galaxy S7 release date is seen to happen earlier than its predecessor, likely in the immediate weeks following the January 2016 CES in Las Vegas or between February and March. The device will be powered by the beastly Snapdragon 820 chip in some markets or by the equally monster Exynos M1 processor in most destinations with both 64-bit chips paired with up to 6GB of RAM.
