The latest rumors on Google's Nexus 5 2015 release date plans is the vanilla Android flagship will unbox with only 2GB of RAM instead of 3GB. But most of the earlier reported specs and features for the mobile device will stay the same.
Disappointing as it is, the next Nexus will have to do with just 2GB of RAM, according to Slash Gear, citing a blog report from Italy. The report indicated that LG has inexplicably opted for lower RAM provisions with the Nexus 5X but the South Korean device vendor will keep the majority of the rumored specs in place.
The LG Nexus 5 in its second coming will still boast of a Full HD screen profile that stretches 5.2-inch diagonally, which is now considered a mid-sized smartphone. The device's internal memory will come in two choices - 32GB and 64GB - and as expected there is no memory card slot, which is a Google signature.
And running the Nexus 5 2015 show is the tandem of Snapdragon 808 and Android 6.0 Marshmallow. The former, which also powers the LG G4, is not exactly a muscle car in the processing chip world remains full capable, while the latter is the upcoming version of Google's mobile operating system. As always the case, the Nexus flagship will get a first taste of the sequel to Android Lollipop.
But why the underwhelming RAM?
A sub-flagship handset
As recently reported, the Nexus 2015 will roll lout in two editions - the Nexus 5 2015 that will be assembled by LG and the Nexus 6 2015 that will sourced from Huawei. Rumors say that Huawei's assignment from Google is to produce a high-end smartphone model so LG's task is to come up with a version that is more mass-geared.
Budget-friendly Nexus 2015
Experts say the Nexus 6 of 2014 was the perfect mix except for one huge slip - it's pricey and as a result many Android fans turned the other way. The new Nexus 5 2015 will correct the mistakes of the past so it is chiefly designed as a budget phone.
And one way to keep the cost down is to cut corners where applicable but minus too big of a compromise, in this case the RAM.
Marshmallow improvements
And the reason that RAM has been shaved off is the likelihood that Google is pretty much confident that the tweaks implemented on Android M, the former nickname for Android 6.0 Marshmallow, will not affect its overall performance. Whatever the RAM number is, the new Google mobile OS should be able to handle numerous tasks all at once.
It should be noted that 2GB RAM on the Nexus 5 2015 is in the same league with that of Apple's upcoming iPhone 6S.
Google, according to uSwitch.com, will reveal the Google Nexus 5 2015 on September 29 but the actual release date is not expected until a few days after the pre-order starts on October 13.
