The Television Academy handed out Creative Arts Emmy Awards on Sept.12, Saturday at the Microsoft Theater in Los Angeles. Foo Fighters, Taylor Swift, and Stevie Wonder were among the big winners at the 2015 Creative Arts Emmy Awards.
Julianne Hough "Dancing With The Stars" judge won her first Emmy for Outstanding Choreography alongside her brother Derek Hough. Former Creative Arts producer Spike Jones, Jr. was awarded the Syd Cassyd Founders Award.
HBO walked away with a total of 29 awards. NBC followed HBO with 11 awards, led by "SNL 40th Anniversary Special's" four wins. FX followed closely behind in third place, taking home eight prizes.
The "Game of Thrones" received eight of the awards including awards for production design, visual effects, and casting. FX's "American Horror Story: Freak Show" picked up five wins, including for hair styling, costumes, and makeup. Queen Latifah's "Bessie" won four, "Going Clear" won three, and "The Jinx" and miniseries "Olive Kitteridge" each received two.
The awards are presented annually in acknowledgment of creative, technical, visual, and other similar achievements in American television programming, including voice-over and guest acting roles
"In a time in our industry when so many want to talk about what's wrong, this is a great affirmation of what's right," said network president and CEO Nancy Dubuc while accepting the award on stage.
"It's really so important for all of us to use the platform that we have, whether it be editing, makeup, sound design, storytelling - use your voice and make a stand for what needs to change," added Dubuc.
Among other noteworthy wins: "Between Two Ferns With Zach Galifianakis" for short-format live-action entertainment program, "The Saturday Night Live 40th Anniversary Special" for the variety special and "Louis C.K." for variety special writing.
Bradley Whitford won Outstanding Guest Actor for Amazon's "Transparent," while Joan Cusack won Outstanding Guest Actress for "Shameless."
"The Jinx: The Life And Deaths Of Robert Durst" won for the documentary or nonfiction series, and "Citizenfour" received honors for exceptional merit in documentary filmmaking. "Last Week Tonight With John Oliver" won for interactive programs.
In addition, Swift scored her first-ever Emmy in the Outstanding Creative Achievement in Interactive Media Original Interactive Program, which the 1989 singer won for her "AMEX Unstaged: Taylor Swift Experience" special.
The 67th edition of the ceremony will be broadcast Sept. 19 at 8 p.m. ET on FXX reported the Mirror.
