Twitter recently experiences a brief outage of service. The social network giant admits that it is experiencing technical issues and apologized for the incident. The outage lasted nearly an hour but the issue was ultimately resolved.

According to USA Today, the issue was only isolated to desktop users of Twitter and it spans from Milwaukee to Spain. No issue was reported regarding Twitter's mobile platform. During the outage, Twitter's mobile app along with TweetDeck still works.

During the manifestation of the issue, desktop users of Twitter received an error message that reads "Something is technical wrong." Users started receiving the error message around 11:22 AM Pacific Time.

Twitter spokesperson Lauren Jones confirmed that the outage ended at around 12:16 PM Pacific Time. Jones added that the company still does not have the information regarding what caused the service outage.

The official Twitter Support page posted a message, "Earlier today, some users may have experienced issues accessing twitter.com. This issue is now resolved. status.twitter.com"

According to Washington Post, Twitter outages are very rare. As the company continues to grow it was able to build a more technical server base that can handle traffic and impose contingency plans in case an outage.

For longtime Twitter users, the recent outage is reminiscent of the Fail Whale image that graced that social network's page every time it has outages. During the course of the outage, many Twitter users vent out their frustrations on other networking websites such as Facebook.

For many Twitter users, such as breaking news outlets, the outage is a major disaster.
