Now that iOS 9 is officially out and millions of iPhones, iPads and iPods are already running the new Apple mobile operating system, the jailbreak community asks the next logical question: When is the iOS 9 jailbreak release date?
Or is iOS 9 even jailbreak-able? The second question was already addressed by long-time iOS hacker iH8Sn0w. In a YouTube clip he recently posted, the popular developer showed off a working iOS 9 jailbreak on an iPhone 5. What he has is a work in progress as iH8Sn0w admits that the build so far is rough, meaning more tinkering are required before the jailbreak is ready for public release.
And iH8Sn0w has also indicated that he is letting other players to continue what he has started. The dev does not intend to issue a jailbreak anytime soon but he is okay with the likes of Team Evad3rs, the Pangu team and TaiG to finish the work for him.
Picking up from iH8Sn0w, cooking up the next jailbreak should be a little easier as the developer proved one important thing - that iOS 9 is open for jailbreaking. The software has the necessary exploits for jailbreakers to pry open and do their magic.
But the magic will be useless without caution as iH8Sn0w has manifested when he elected to keep the details of his iOS 9 jailbreak work. As proven in the past, Apple is only quick to plug the iOS holes that hackers have identified as workaround. The tech giant then patches the software, ruling out the possibility of a jailbreak.
That likely is the main reason that any of the known jailbreakers are not rushing the issuance of an iOS 9 jailbreak. Prudence dictates holding out for the next big software update from Apple, which is iOS 9.1 judging from the existence of iOS 9.1 in beta form.
Now to answer the not so secret whispering in the jailbreak community: When is the next jailbreak coming out? Nothing is definite at the moment. The iPhone and iPad customization tool could come quick like what the Pangu did with the first iOS 8 jailbreak last year.
Or it could take months as what was experienced with iOS 7 when Team Evad3rs only managed to complete a working jailbreak in late December 2013.
So the safe bet for an iOS 9 jailbreak release date is the few weeks or months after the deployment of iOS 9.1, which is believed to come out in the open around late October or early November 2015.
