"The Young Messiah" gives a unique take on Jesus as it explores the childhood of the Son of God. The movie is headed by Sean Bean as Severus and Adam Greaves-Neal as the young Jesus Christ.
The movie is based on Anne Rice's novel "Christ the Lord: Out of Egypt," wherein the author created a fictionalized account of Jesus' early years. She wrote the novel when she returned to her Catholic faith in 2009, as reported by Huffington. Rice is once again at odds with Catholicism due to conflicting views which she explained to Interfaith Radio.
According to Comingsoon.net, the story revolves around Jesus and his entire family as they come to terms with his divine nature and purpose. In the trailer, we take a closer look at Mary's experience, fears, and apprehensions in bearing God's Son. It also shows the threats that Jesus faced as a child.
The movie allows us to view life from Jesus' point of view as a seven-year-old. Moviepilot reported that this epic story should do well in theaters as it is slated to be released weeks before Easter.
The film is directed by Cyrus Nowrasteh. He also wrote the screenplay along with his wife Betsy Nowrasteh.
