Celebrity parenting styles have often drawn criticism. In the case of former England captain David Beckham, raising well-balanced kids that are allowed to make and learn from their own choices is topmost in his mind.
The soccer icon confided to reporters recently that one of his sons expressed uncertainty in wanting to play football, especially since people expect a Beckham boy to be as good as his famous athlete-father. Taken aback, the doting father eased his son's apprehensions on feeling the pressure of growing up in his shadow.
Beckham told his son that he will play only if he is happy doing it, news.com.au reported.
Beckham's kids with former Spice Girl Victoria Beckham, Brooklyn, Romeo, Cruz and Harper (aged 16, 13, 10 and four, respectively) all grew up with a huge material advantage.
Their affluent, high-profile parents make sure, though, that they are not raised as isolated kids who must also deal with the pressure of achievement coming from all fronts. David realizes that this can be a toxic brew that can lead to disconnected and unhappy young adults. The hunky athlete-model has illustrated in many instances that he is a supportive father to his kids.
David's social media posts paint a picture of an involved and proud father. He recently wrote on Instagram that bonding moments with the kids "is always so special" whether it is a fishing outing with his son or a birthday celebration.
The 16-year-old Beckham is fast making a name for himself and has graced magazine covers, including Man About Town and recently, Miss Vogue, making his fashion-savvy mom very proud, The Independent reported.
Brooklyn's professional and social calendar has been very busy lately, yet he is able to squeeze in camera time with his family members and celebrities, then he posts the snaps on social media. David and Victoria have made it a point to closely monitor the social media usage of Brooklyn, who has currently reached four million followers on Instagram.
