Industry experts expect that tech giant Microsoft will release a new Microsoft Band on its upcoming event scheduled in early October. This rumor was reinforced by a recent leak which is believed to be an image of the upcoming Microsoft Band 2.
The leak came from the Spanish website Microsoft Insider. The website claims that the leaked image belongs to the new iteration of the Band. It shows a curved display which many experts claim should help the device to properly fit on its user's wrist.
According to PC World, the new Band will have a new feature that allows it to track users while climbing stairs. Although the new feature does not pose any productivity solution for a product design for runners, many critics still welcomed it as a good addition.
Reports claim that the Starbucks app is still integrated into the new Band.
Experts expect that the new Band will include features such as an optical heart monitor, GPS, microphone, UV sensor and an accelerometer, among others.
Based on the leaked images, it appears that the new Band's batter is now located under the display rather than the side. The Band 2 also sports a slight metallic accent. The device is still expected to work on the Android, iOS and Windows phone platform. Rumors are also claiming that the device will run on Windows 10.
Not much was revealed regarding the Band 2's official specs. However, many expects that Microsoft will reveal additional information as the event on Oct. 6 closes in. There are rumors claiming the Band 2 will be released alongside new smartphones and tablets from Microsoft.
