The "Five Nights at Freddy's 4" game may have only been released a couple of months ago but creator Scott Cawthon revealed that he is already working on the fifth installment. "Five Nights at Freddy's 5" will reportedly be an RPG, which will feature all the fan favorite characters of the game.
According to Steam, the next game, called "Five Nights at Freddy's World," will not be a direct sequel to the past four games. Cawthon explained that the story is already complete as it is, saying that it was not necessary to build on the "FNAF" franchise.
Contrary to earlier reports, Cawthon's latest offering will not be a horror game. He revealed that just like in the original game, fans may still choose from four variations: classic, withered, toy, phantom and nightmare.
Fans who are still confused as to what "Five Nights at Freddy's World" will look like will be treated to a demo, expected to come out late this year. Cawthon promised that the new game will definitely be bigger and much more exciting than the first four.
"FNAF World" will be released on PC, Android and iOS this 2016.
In other news, a movie adaptation of "Five Nights at Freddy's" is also in the works, according to The Hollywood Reporter. It has yet to be confirmed if the film will be as terrifying as the original game.
Cawthon believed that the adaptation will be able to tap into a largely unexplored niche of horror which people could relate to. Seth Grahame-Smith of KatzSmith Productions added that they are looking forward to creating an "insane, terrifying and weirdly adorable" movie.
