The Los Angeles-based start-up company FreedomPop recently launched its free mobile service in the United Kingdom. The free tier service offers 200 minutes of talk time, 200 text messages and 200 megabytes of data.

According to PC Mag, FreedomPop's service relies mostly on Wi-Fi connection. The service will only switch to the cellular network once a Wi-Fi network is out of reach.

According to Tech Crunch, FreedomPop's mobile service will run on UK-based Three service provider. In the United States, FreedomPop uses network infrastructure from Sprint in order to deliver its services.

FreedomPop chief executive and co-founder Stephen Stokols said in a statement, "The U.K. has had many mobile providers and services enter the mobile market, but none of them offer a completely new business model enabling free service, guaranteed for life. Similar to the U.S., FreedomPop will deliver unprecedented value to customers with an easy-to-use, high-quality mobile service."

Stokols promised to bring mobile services all over the U.K.

In order to take advantage of FreedomPop's unlimited free data, minutes and text messages, customers are required to complete various offers such as participating in a survey or download a particular coupon.

Eligible users are allowed to share data with their family members and friends. Any unused data each month are rolled over to the next. Users will also receive notification alerts in order to make sure that users do not go over their allotted monthly allowance.

FreedomPop works on both Android and iPhone devices. Users only need to use the FreedomPop SIM card and download the app in order to start using the service.
