American multinational firm Ford Motors Company said it has broken its sales record in China once again in November, the third consecutive month that it has reported record sales figures in the world's biggest auto market.
Ford said it has sold almost 100,000 vehicles in China last month. The figure is 47 per cent more than what it sold during the same month a year ago. The company said its year-to-date sales in China are now up 18 per cent.
Sales of wholesale vehicles in November reached 67,505, or 56 per cent more than the vehicles sold in November of 2012. The company's passenger car joint venture in China, the Changan Ford Automobile Ltd, also reported record sales in November.
According to Ford, Changan Ford Automobile sold 50,432 wholesale cars last month, or 27 per cent more compared to the same period of last year.
Ford has already overtaken its Japanese competitor Toyota Motor Corp in China. Toyota sold about 809,000 vehicles in the country or 7.9 per cent higher from a year earlier.
Experts said Toyota could further boost its sales next year as the anti-Japanese sentiments that have affected the company have already started to fade.
Ford, meanwhile, said it will bring to China in 2015 the Mustang, one of the 15 redesigned Ford vehicles that the company wants to reintroduce to the Chinese market.
The Ford Focus remains the best performing car of the company in China in terms of sales. In November, 38,362 wholesale Focus units were sold in the Chinese market.
According to the China Passenger Car Association, China's car market continues to be robust this year, registering double-digit growth after two years of weak performance.
The association said 1,631,395 vehicles were sold in China last month. The vehicles include passenger cars, SUVs, multi-purpose vehicles and mini-vans. The figure represents growth of 14.9 per cent, said the association in a recent report.
