Video sharing website YouTube will launch its long-awaited subscription service by the end of October. The company has sent out emails to content creators detailing the terms for the anticipated service.
Part of the email reads, "For years, YouTube's fans have been telling us they want more - more choice when watching their favorite content, more ways to support their favorite creators and, above all, the option to watch their favorite videos uninterrupted."
YouTube added that it will launch a new ads-free service which will be available to its users for a monthly fee. The company claims that this new scheme will help create a new source of revenue that will supplement the current advertising revenue that most content creators receive.
YouTube also said in the email that if content creators do not agree to the new terms, their content will no longer be available for public display and they will also be excluded for monetization within the United States.
According to ReCode, YouTube is planning to offer monthly $10 subscription fee which will include the music streaming service Music Key. Monthly subscribers will be able to access the music streaming service that offers background playback and offline access, among others.
YouTube has yet to publicize the complete terms and conditions included within the $10 monthly subscription. However, many tech analysts predict that it should include an ad-free service which has been the demand of YouTube users for several years already.
According to The Market Business, the subscription scheme will be rolled-out in the US region first and will subsequently crawl to other regions.
