The report, published on Tuesday on Openminds.tv, was recorded as Case 67439 in MUFON's witness reporting database. The witness, who was outdoors on June 26 loading things in the car, was able to capture the UFO on video at about 9 p.m.

The witness estimates the south-to-north path movement of the object at about 35 degrees above the horizon. The North Carolina resident adds, "It had about the same approximate brightness as a nearby star which I believe to have been Jupiter."

The witness initially thought the UFO was the International Space Station, but changed mind when the object accelerated.

The UFO disappeared behind the tree line, followed by a commercial plane from a nearby airport fly above the witness. When the jet was out of sight, the UFO reappeared from behind the trees and again moved north to south in a straight and level manner.

It was only at this point that the witness started to videotape the UFO using a mobile phone. By that time, the object had moved behind the tree again, stopped, hovered, went down with a zigzag motion until it finally became out of sight.

John Pizzon, MUFON field investigator for North Carolina, studied the sighting and video, and concluded that the object was an Unknown.

North Carolina is a magnet for UFO sightings. A month before the above incident, a resident from Lenoir in Caldwell County also saw a bright orb.
