Along with the LG Nexus 5X and Huawei Nexus 6P, Google has unveiled and will soon unleash Android 6.0 Marshmallow. Now the inevitable question: Which among the Android flagships will get the new OS first, next to the Nexus 2015 handsets of course?
If Pocket Lint is to be asked, it is a race between HTC and Motorola. The Taiwanese device vendor has already announced that the HTC One M9 and One M8 will surely jump to Android before the end of 2015. This is in line with the company's commitment of bringing the latest Android update within a 90-day timeframe but the blog report noted that while early arrival is possible, this likely only applies to HTC's current flagships.
Other HTC smartphone models, specifically the older ones, will have to wait a bit longer, possibly until early 2016. But as the Taiwan-based smartphone maker delivers software updates for two years from time of activation, HTC device users are at least assured of having a bite of Android Marshmallow sooner or later.
HTC, however, is likely to be outpaced by Motorola. Once a Google-owned firm, the Moto X maker has the advantage of using near-vanilla form of the Android mobile operating system. That means less time required for adjusting the software to Moto X, G and E users and faster time of update deployment.
In fact, a new report is claiming that the second-gen Moto X could get Android M ahead of the Moto X 2015. So the chance that the latest Moto X, G and E will get Android Marshmallow ahead of the pack.
And which flagship will come next? It is a toss between LG and Samsung but the former enjoys a little advantage. LG assembled the Nexus 5X and work is possibly underway for Marshmallow to soon give a new look and feel to the LG G4, at least.
As for Samsung's latest Galaxy pride, a claim popped up saying the top Android device manufacturer is planning a big firmware bump that will benefit users of the following: the Galaxy Note 5, the Galaxy S6, the Galaxy S6 Edge and the Galaxy S6 Edge Plus. The Galaxy Note 4, released in late 2014, was also mentioned of the huge software jump tipped as Android 6.0 Marshmallow.
Other Android flagship users will need more patience as Marshmallow could only show up in the early months of 2016 if the previous upgrade cycles are to go by. And when Android 6.0 Marshmallow is finally upon them, Gotta Be Mobile has one piece of advice to avoid the usual post-upgrade issues: Clean install the operating system by hard resetting their Android devices.
