The pilot season of CW TV series "Jane the Virgin" ended with shocking story twists starting with the kidnapping of Jane Villanueva's newborn son Mateo. The synopsis of "Jane the Virgin" Season 2 premiere episode teases on the upcoming storylines of the comedy-drama series' characters such as baby Mateo, Sin Rostro (Bridget Regan), Jane Villanueva (Gina Rodriguez) and Rafael Solano (Justin Baldoni).
According to the synopsis in a Carter Matt report, chaos will result after Jane finds out that her newborn son Mateo has been kidnapped. The Villanueva family will also discover that criminal Sin Rostro is the person behind the kidnapping of baby Mateo in the hospital.
Rogelio de la Vega (Jamie Camil), Jane's telenovela superstar father, tries to help in finding baby Mateo by posting on Twitter about the kidnapping. However, Rogelio will only put in more stress to the already stressful situation because the Villanueva family becomes the target of the paparazzi.
The premiere episode's synopsis further teased that Jane will be focusing on her new challenge in life which is motherhood. "Jane the Virgin" executive producer Jennie Snyder Urman has teased in an interview with Entertainment Weekly that Jane's story in the second season will be on how she embraces motherhood while still retaining her sense of self and desiring to accomplish all of the things that she wanted since getting pregnant was not part of her plan.
"That is going to be something that Jane will continue to struggle with throughout the season," Urman further shared. As Jane focuses on motherhood, she will be asking help from her mom Xiomara (Andrea Navedo) and grandmother Alba (Ivonne Coll) in the premiere episode which will make Rafael feel he is being excluded in raising the child.
Lastly, Petra (Yael Grobglas) will be conflicted in the premiere episode on what she must do with the second sperm sample of her ex-husband Rafael. In the pilot season's finale episode, Petra decided not to tell Rafael about his sperm being split into two samples and took the second sample from the sperm bank to keep it for herself.
"Jane the Virgin" Season 2 will premiere on Monday night, Oct. 12, at 9/8c on the CW Network.
