"Assassin's Creed" movie will have two cast members playing the fathers of the main characters and the film's plot to connect with the game series.
Two cast members have been added in the "Assassin's Creed" movie, as "Batman V Superman" cast member Jeremy Irons and "Into The Storm" actor Brenda Gleeson are set to play as the fathers of both Michael Fassbender and Marion Cortillard's characters, Deadline reported.
Gleeson's will portray the father of one of Fassbender's characters Callum Lynch and Aguilar de Agarorobo while Irons' will be the father of Cortillards' currently unnamed female character. An interesting dynamic since two fathers of both main characters are possibly members of the two warring groups in the game series, the Assassins and the Templar order.
The plot of the film could have a nod to William Shakespeare's "Romeo and Juliet" in which both Fassbender and Cortillard's character could be lovers, but are not meant to be together due to the different ideals of both the Assassin's and the Templar, thus making it similar to "Assassin's Creed: Unity" video game.
Aside from the two cast members, Ubisoft confirmed that the "Assassin's Creed" movie will be part of the same universe of "Assassin's Creed" games, meaning that there is a possibility that Callum Lynch/Aguilar de Agarorobo (Fassbender) could meet other game characters like Desmond Miles or one of his ancestors, Screenrant reported. Ubisoft added that events that happened in the games, novels and comics could also be connected to the film version and vice versa.
The "Assassin's Creed" movie will take place in both present time and 15th century Spain at the time of the Spanish Inquisition. Callum Lyncn will discover that he is part of on-going war between the Assassins and the Templars. Like Desmond Miles, Lynch can unlock the secrets of his lineage by reliving the memories of one of his ancestors, namely the assassin Aguilar de Agarorobo.
Interestingly, there is a chance that Aguilar could meet another character in the game series such fan-favorite Ezio Auditore da Firenze is also present at same time period as in the movie. "Assassin's Creed" movie has started filming this year in Malta then in Spain and Europe soon.
"Assassin's Creed" movie is scheduled to be release in cinemas on Dec. 21, 2016.
