"Pan" is a British-American fantasy adventure film directed by Joe Wright. The film is depicting the origins of Peter Pan and Captain Hook.
The plot revolves around a 12-year-old orphan named Peter Pan played by Levi Miller, who lives in an orphanage in London. One night courageous Peter is spirited away to the magical world of pirates, warriors and fairies called Neverland.
In the incredible escapade, Peter goes through life-or-death battles while trying to unearth the secret of his mother, who abandoned him a long ago.
Teamed with the warrior Tiger Lily portrayed by Rooney Mara and a new buddy named James Hook played by Garrett Hedlund, Peter must conquer the hard-nosed pirate Blackbeard portrayed by Hugh Jackman to save Neverland.
Peter eventually discovers his true destiny to become the hero who will be known as Peter Pan till eternity.
On the review aggregator Rotten Tomatoes, the film has a rating of 45 percent, based on 22 reviews, with an average rating of 5.2/10. Metacritic gives the film a score of 34 out of 100, based on 7 critics indicating "generally unfavorable reviews."
While Robbie Collin of the Telegraph gave the film a mixed review saying that the end of the film is overdone. Todd McCarthy of the Hollywood Reporter has praised the Jackman's performance and its technical achievements.
Written by Jason Fuchs, it is a prequel to Scottish author J. M. Barrie's Peter Pan story, first staged in 1904. The script for the "Pan" was listed on Hollywood's 2013 Black List. The Black List is an annual survey of the "most liked" motion picture screenplays not yet produced
"Pan" had its world premiere in London on Sept. 20, 2015. With the runtime of the 111- minute film is rated PG for fantasy action violence, language, and some thematic material. The "Pan" release is on Oct. 9 in USA.
"Pan" opens in the in Germany, Russia, Korea, and Brazil on Oct. 8. In United Kingdom on Oct. 16 and France on Oct. 21, which will be followed by China on Oct. 22 with Japan following on Oct. 31, and Italy on Nov. 12
