Android 6.0 Marshmallow is rolling out this week but not all Android devices are getting the upgrade treatment. Good thing though three leading brands - Nexus, Motorola and HTC - have confirmed that the jump to the new Google mobile OS is happening for them real soon.
Android fans have been expecting that as the LG Nexus 5X and Huawei Nexus 6P are sliding out of the box with Marshmallow, the 2014 Nexus models are next in line to get Android 6. Google has already confirmed that the Nexus 5 and 6, which LG and Motorola manufactured respectively will be bumped to the OS in no time. It is the same case for the Asus, Nexus 7 2013, the HTC Nexus 9 tablet and the Nexus Player.
And just to prove that these kits will be as sweet as a Marshmallow soon enough, Droid Life is saying in a report that owners of the mentioned devices can start the manual flashing of the new Android if the over the air update is too long a wait for them.
But it appears that manual Marshmallow installation is reserved only for the vanilla Android bunch as Lifehacker reported that users of the HTC One M9 and the One M8 will have to wait for Android 6 until December 2015. These two flagships are nearly confirmed to taste the new OS anytime in the month but not for 10 other HTC handsets.
The wait for Marshmallow, according to the same report, will likely extend until early 2016.
For users of Motorola phones, however, Android 6 will likely touchdown way ahead of the pack or at least next to Nexus devices owing to the fact that the Moto X, G and E run on nearly pure Android OS. To date, Motorola has confirmed that the Moto X 2015 - including its variants of Moto X Pure Edition, Moto X Style and Moto X Play - and Moto G 2015 will soon showcase the power and features packed with Android Marshmallow.
And the same will happen with the Moto X 2014 and Moto G 2014, including the DROID Turbo, the Moto Turbo and the Moto MAXX.
LG is expected as well to deliver firmware updates to its 2015 flagship, the LG G4, soon and it is highly likely that the Marshmallow sweetness will also be applied with the LG G3 of 2014. The actual upgrade timing, however, remains in the rumor zone.
As for Samsung, the Galaxy Note 5, the Galaxy S6 Edge Plus, the Galaxy S6 and the Galaxy S6 Edge are virtual shoo-ins to take a bite of the Marshmallow recipe. And reports are saying that the looming jump from Android 5.1.1 Lollipop to version 6.0 will also benefit the Galaxy S5, the Galaxy Note 4 and the Galaxy Note Edge.
But when exactly is the Android 6.0 Marshmallow release date for these flagship devices is yet to be confirmed by Samsung.
