"Beetlejuice" actress Geena Davis has recently shared her thoughts about returning for the film's sequel.
In her interview with ET Online, Davis said that she would love to reprise her role in the said project, since it was one of her favorite movies. The actress added that ghosts did not age and it was going to be 30 years since the release of the original film.
While Davis said that she had not aged, she thought that her co-star Baldwin had aged. The actress also mentioned that she had heard that the sequel was really happening; however, no one had talked to her about it.
In January, screenwriter Seth Gramahe-Smith told The Hollywood Reporter that the "Beetlejuice" sequel would be set in present day, which entails that the film would be a bit more modernized. With that revelation, fans are also curious if the said setting has an impact on the storyline.
Directed by Tim Burton in 1988, the comedy fantasy film "Beetlejuice" followed a couple of recently deceased ghosts who contract the services of a bio-exorcist to force the loathsome new owners of their home. The film starred Davis, Alec Baldwin, and Michael Keaton.
Aside from Burton's "Beetlejuice," Davis is also known for her roles in David Cronenberg's sci-fi horror film "The Fly," Shonda Rhimes' romantic drama series "Grey's Anatomy," Max Landis' comedy film "Me Him Her," and J.J. Johnson's family television series "Annedroids." Other than the "Beetlejuice" sequel, Davis is set to appear in Michael Almereyda's drama film "Marjorie Prime."
Burton is set to helm "Beetlejuice 2," with Grahame-Smith on board to pen the sequel's screenplay. "Black Swan" actress Winona Ryder will play the role of Lydia Deetz in the film.
Since the project is in its early phase of development, exact details on the plot, characters, cast, and release date are yet to be revealed.
