The Filipino biopic "Felix Manalo" broke two Guinness World Record for Largest Attendance for a Film Screening and Largest Attendance for a Film Premiere, previously held by "Honor Flight" and "The Chronicles of Narnia: Prince Caspian," respectively. The premiere was attended by 43, 624 people in Philippine Arena in Bocaue, Bulacan.
According to Interaksyon, the record has been confirmed and certified by Guinness World Records UK adjudicators Marco Frigatti and Victoria Tweedey.
The 2012 documentary film "Honor Flight" previously held the record for most number of attendees for a film screening with 28,442 at Miller Park in Milwaukee, Wisconsin. Meanwhile, 2008's "The Chronicles of Narnia: Prince Caspian" held the most number of attendees in a premiere with 10,000 viewers in London.
The movie's venue, Philippine Arena, also has two world records: World's Largest Indoor Arena and World's Largest Mixed-Used Indoor Theater.
Eagle News, a media outfit owned by members of the Iglesia ni Cristo, posted a video on YouTube, in which the Guinness adjudicators praised the film for setting a new world record.
"The greatest merit in this record is the logistical capacity and the capacity to attract so many people to come to a film premiere," said the adjudicator.
"Felix Manalo" follows the story of the founder of Iglesia ni Cristo from his early years to his establishment of the INC. The film stars Dennis Trillo and Bella Padilla. It is directed by Joel Lamangan and written by INC Executive Minister Bienvenido Santiago. The film is set to hit theaters on Oct. 7.
