While Colin Trevorrow has stepped down from "Jurassic World" as its director, he has assured fans that he will still be involved in the development of the sequel. Trevorrow also teased that the lead stars Chris Pratt (Owen) and Bryce Dallas Howard (Claire) will return to reprise their roles in "Jurassic World 2."

Talking to The Hollywood Reporter, the 39-year-old renowned filmmaker compared his work to the hit "Star Wars" that had different directors involved in the development of the franchise. Trevorrow said, "Jurassic Park is like Star Wars. Different directors can give a different taste to each movie."

As a way of assuring fans of his continued involvement in the production of the movie, the director said, "I would be involved in some way, but not as director." Trevorrow's statement spurred immediate speculations that there is a possibility of Pratt leaving the "Jurassic World" sequel.

However, in an interview with Jurassic Cast Podcast via YouTube, Trevorrow indicated that both Pratt and Howard will come back for their roles in the upcoming installment. He explained, "We made ['Jurassic World'] with the fans very much in mind and I'm not going to forget that. But we've seen a lot of 'dinosaurs chasing people around on an island' movies."

The director believes that viewers and fans will have a chance to explore the direction of the film. Although Owen and Claire will feature in "Jurassic World 2," none of them will remain in the same place they were in the previous film.

Trevorrow dished on the way he envisioned "Jurassic World" to become a new trilogy from the initially scheduled two-part sequel as he quoted a line "Jurassic Park" based on Ian Malcolm's quote.

"You stood on the shoulders of geniuses to accomplish something as fast as you could and before you knew what you had, you'd packaged it and slapped it on a plastic lunchbox and now you want to sell it."

"Jurassic World 2" is set to hit theaters on June 22, 2018.
