"The Vampire Diaries" (TVD) Season 7 is set to premiere on Oct. 8, 2015. The series might have bid goodbye to Elena Gilbert, but she still remains the part of a major storyline in the forthcoming instalment. "The Vampire Diaries" (TVD) Season 6 finale saw Elena Gilbert fall permanently asleep. As long as Elena is asleep, Bonnie (Kat Graham) stays alive. However, Elena's body is now in danger and Damon (Ian Somerhalder) and Stefan (Paul Wesley) must do everything to protect it for if and when she wakes up.
Speaking to TV Insider, "The Vampire Diaries" star Paul Wesley revealed that Nina Dobrev's Elena Gilbert is still a "very big part of the story." In the wake of rise of the villains, Damon must ensure Elena's body is safe.
"Her body's in danger in the first few episodes, and Damon is doing everything he can to make sure it stays safe if and when she wakes up. We all had imagined this complete reboot where Elena was gone, but she's talked about so much!" Paul Wesley revealed.
With Elena gone, the show is expected to introduce some intriguing twists in the storyline. Meanwhile, the actor teased what to expect from "The Vampire Diaries" (TVD) Season 7 premiere. He disclosed that the show begins from the time "before the town is destroyed."
"The episode goes back three years, so by the end of it, you'll understand what happened. Each episode will jump back and forth," the actor revealed about Episode 1 "Day One of Twenty-Two Thousand, Give or Take."
According to the premiere's synopsis (via Wetpaint), Damon struggles with the loss of his girlfriend Elena. Still reeling from the tragedy, Damon tries to move on with his life without Elena. As for Bonnie, she decides to support Damon while he grieves.
Meanwhile, Mystic Falls fall victim to Lily (Annie Wersching) and other Heretics' rage. Stefan steps up and decides to protect the town from the villains. At the same time, Matt joins hands with Stefan and Caroline (Candice King) to battle Heretics. However, a shocking turn of events pushes one of them in danger. Elsewhere, Enzo's (Michael Malarkey) allegiance to Lily is put to test. He finally decides where his loyalty lies.
