"The Vampire Diaries" star Ian Somerhalder recently revealed exciting details from the upcoming seventh season of the hit The CW series.
In an interview with TV Fanatic, the actor said that Bonnie and Damon will remain friends throughout the upcoming installment.
However, when asked whether or not there is a chance for them to be romantically involved with one another, Somerhalder said that Damon only loves Bonnie as his friend.
Additionally, he explained that Damon will feel obliged to take care of Bonnie because he knows that that's what Elena would want and expect from him.
The actor also said that Damon will be screwed if Elena wakes up from her deep slumber, and finds out that Bonnie is dead.
Meanwhile, fans are also wondering whether or not there is any truth to the rumors that Somerhalder will exit the series after season 7.
According to MTV News, the actor recently dropped other details about the fate of Damon, and it's very obvious that the character still has a very long way to go in terms of storylines.
Somerhalder also hosted a Q&A session on his Facebook account on Oct. 5 where he responded to some of his fans' questions.
One of them asked whether or not Damon will show more skin in season 7, and the actor said that his character will show as much skin as the fans would want of him.
"The Vampire Diaries" will continue to feature Somerhalder, Paul Wesley, Kat Graham and Candice Accola in season 7.
"The Vampire Diaries" season 7 will premiere on The CW on Oct. 8.
