"The Originals" season 3 star Daniel Gillies recently opened up about his character Elijah, his onscreen brother Klaus and the love triangle he has with him and Hayley.
In an interview with Zap2It, Gillies said that Elijah will have a slight desperation at the moment, especially since he wants to make sure that Hayley will be safe now that she's been transformed into a werewolf.
"I think we're seeing Elijah come a little undone. He's sort of the only one of the original family that's desperately clawing to maintain a sense of... I don't want to say nobility, because I don't think that's what it is. A sort of humanity that he's trying to hold on to," he said.
Meanwhile, Gillies also weighed in on Elijah and Klaus' relationship. Despite coming together in season two's finale episode, the actor said that the Mikaelson brothers will continue to disagree on a lot of things.
"I find that interesting. It's funny that you should say that. There were these images released online of Elijah holding a baby and I started getting all of these rage and vitriol on Twitter and social media feeds. People are saying, 'This is the kind of bullsh*t that pisses me off, who the f*ck do they think they are?'"
Gillies also revealed that Klaus will continue to have custody of baby Hope. He added that he is proud of how the writers portrayed the show's lead character as an absentee father.
"The Originals" season 3 will premiere on The CW on Oct. 8.
