Lex Luthor is set to deviate from the comic books in Zack Snyder's upcoming DC Comics film "Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice."
"The Social Network" actor Jesse Eisenberg will play Luthor in Snyder's forthcoming film. In his interview with Vulture, Eisenberg said that there was a store of valuable things about his character. The actor added that Luthor's previous incarnations in the comics saw the villain speak about his thoughts on changing the city.
Eisenberg also mentioned that Luthor had a psychological foundation in Snyder's film, in contrary to Gene Hackman's real estate-inclined version in Christopher Reeve's "Superman" films. For Eisenberg, it would be fun to showcase a less cartoony version of Luthor and make him more human, which would be more relatable to the audience.
Luthor's overall persona in Snyder's film has not yet been fully revealed, as per Cinema Blend. However, various speculations from previous teasers and trailers say that Luthor would make an attempt to work alongside with the government against Superman. Interestingly, Luthor is assumed to use the Kryptonite as his weapon to defeat the Man of Steel, not to mention his plan to create Doomsday and abduct Martha Kent.
Directed by Snyder, "Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice" will lead to the rise of the superhero team Justice League. Aside from Eisenberg, the film also stars Henry Cavill, Ben Affleck, Gal Gadot, Jason Momoa, Ezra Miller, Ray Fisher, and Amy Adams, among others.
Snyder's "Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice" is set to be aired in two separate teasers on Oct. 26 while the film is slated to premiere in theaters in the United States on Mar. 25, 2016.
