The Android based BlackBerry Priv was unveiled in September and since then the tech community have been waiting for new information about the device. Recently, a new set of leaked images show the video recording capabilities of the Priv as well as its security features.
The leaked BlackBerry Priv image first posted by N4BB shows that the device is capable of recording 4K videos at 30 frames per second. It can also record 1080p videos at both 60 frames per second and 30 frames per second. The same refresh rate goes with 720p video recording.
Also part of the leak are images showing the BlackBerry Safeguard app. According to NDTV, this app allow users to view the BlackBerry Priv's security status. On the app, users can also edit and manage app settings, screen lock settings and access developer options.
When the BlackBerry Priv was announced, BlackBerry chief executive officer John Chen said that the Priv stands for privacy and privilege. The latest leaked image showing some of the smartphone's security features is a good sign that BlackBerry is keeping up to its word.
Rumors claim that the BlackBerry Priv will feature a Qualcomm Snapdragon 808 chipset with a six-core processor and Adreno 418 graphics processing unit. In terms of RAM, the most common trend for top-tiered smartphones is either 3GB or 4GB. Speculations claim that the Priv will be released in three storage variants; 32GB, 64GB and 128GB. In case BlackBerry chooses to go with smaller storage space, the rumored microSD card slot will be handy for storage expansion.
BlackBerry has yet to reveal the exact date when the smartphone will be released. However, the company promised that it will be "late in the calendar year."
