1. Shanghai Louis Vuitton Commercial Center

Architects thought of making the Louis Vuitton commercial center look like the capital letter L from all directions to embody its brand name LV. But shortly after its pictures uploaded onto Chinese Internet, Chinese netizens' first impression is that it looks more like a riding boot.

2. Shenyang Fangyuan Building

This 25-floor office building, finished in 2001 in the northeastern capital of Liaoning Province, is a weird mishmash of ideas. One is a reference to old Chinese coins, which have square cutouts-just like the structure's square center. Other parts of the design are like a garden-variety corporate building, with a concrete base and, on the sides, steel rims with glass grooves.

3. Gate of the Orient in Suzhou

The Gate to the East is a $700 Million USD skyscraper under construction in Suzhou, Jiangsu. It is intended to be a gateway to the city that emphasizes the city's continuing significance in today's China. The building is to be around 980 ft. high, and located in the heart of Suzhou's central business district. It will be used mainly for transport and commercial purposes.

Though intended as an iconic gateway, the Gate to the East has been oft criticized - both humorously and angrily - as resembling a pair of pants. The Daily Mail questioned: "Architectural triumphs or just plain pants?", stating: "China's latest superstructures resemble a giant pair of long johns..." The landmark has thus led to a slew of Internet parodies.

4. CCTV Tower in Beijing

China Central Television headquarters, a gigantic physics defying architecture often jokingly referred to in Beijing as the "Big Underpants", seen from my room in Beijing World Summit Wing (over 300 meters tall), a Shangri-La hotel. On the upper left corner is a helicopter pad.

5. Ping-Pong Hotel in Huainan

This amazing Ping-Pong Hotel was said in 2011 that it was going to be built in East China in the city of Huainan. As you can see from the picture, it is an upside down tennis racket, and it's planned to be built in the Olympic park.
