Kung Fu star Jackie Chan teams up with John Cusack and Adrien Brody in the upcoming looks-to-be-epic movie "Dragon Blade" directed by Daniel Lee which will be in theaters in time for the Chinese New Year in 2015.
This historical action film is said to be the most expensive Chinese-financed film to ever go on production with its $65 budget from the Beijing Cultural Assets Chinese Film and Television Fund and backed by Sparkle Roll Cultural Media, Huayi Brothers Media Corporation and Shanghai Film Group.
The fund is composed of some of the biggest players in the Chinese entertainment industry including China Film Production, Cultural Assets Supervision and Administration Office of the People's Government of Beijing Municipality, CITIC Asset Management Corporation, Sparkle Roll Group and Beijing All Media and Culture Group.
Chan stars as Huo An, the commander of the Protection Squad of the Western Regions during the Han dynasty while Cusack will play Lucius, a Roman soldier who finds himself in China in 48 B.C. with another Roman guy chasing after him named Tiberius (Brody).
Both Cusack and Brody expressed their excitement in working with the King Fu legend with Cusack saying to the experience to be "a great adventure", and Brody referring to it as "a dream".
The cast also includes member of K-Pop band Super Junior Choi Si-won, kick boxer and martial arts choreographer Benny "The Jet" Urquidez, and many more.
The project is said to be inspired by the documented evidence of Roman descendants and Roman ruins in Liqian Village in Gansu province in Northwest China during the Han Dynasty.
Dragon Blade" is scheduled for global release on the first day of the Chinese New Year on February 19, 2015 in 3D IMAX in China and in international markets.
