There are rumors that "The Vampire Diaries" star Ian Somerhalder and his wife Nikki Reed is considering divorce.
According to Star Pulse, one of the reasons why Somerhalder is contemplating on ending his relationship with Reed is because the actress doesn't want to have kids at the moment.
The publication added that Reed wants to focus on her career at the moment, so she and Somerhalder have been disagreeing on when to start a family.
"Nikki is ambitious and worries about derailing her career if she gets pregnant now," a source told Star Magazine.
Meanwhile, the publication claimed that Somerhalder ended his relationship with his former co-star Nina Dobrev because the actress wasn't ready to settle down.
Somerhalder has been very vocal of his desire to start his own family.
During a recent interview, he said that he's looking forward to experiencing a new life as a father.
"Oh, hell yes! Absolutely. You know, it's all about practice... It's not practice makes perfect - it's perfect practice. I'm actually pregnant right now! It's the most incredible thing to be happy and secure in something," he said jokingly.
When asked when exactly the best time is for him and Reed to have a child, the actor said that right now may not be most ideal.
"It's a pretty crazy time and place to bring a child into this turbulent and insane world, but I really can't wait to do it," he said.
Somerhalder stars in the seventh season of The CW's "The Vampire Diaries."
