Hewlett-Packard Co. (HP) plans to break itself into two companies, reports said on Sunday.
The Tech giant will release an official announcement about the separation of its personal-computer and printer businesses from its technology services as early as Monday.
According to the Wall Street Journal, HP's plan to split into two different companies is the latest attempt of the company to improve its sales.
Meg Whitman, the current HP Chief executive, will lead the enterprise-focused company while serving as the chairman of the board of the PC and printer business.
Patricia Russo, however, will do the chairman duties for the enterprise company which focuses on corporate hardware and services operations.
Meanwhile, Dion Weisler will be named as the head of the PC and printer company, Wall Street Journal reported.
Based on some sources from HP, the planned separation is expected to happen as a tax-free distribution of shares to the company's stockholders in the coming year.
HP spokeswoman Sarah Pompei declined to comment about the issue.
Reports claimed that this is not the first time the pioneer in business computers considered a break-up.
In 2011, HP has actually explored the possibility of spinning off its technology services during the time of Former CEO Leo Apotheker, some sources confirmed.
