Nick Diaz received tons of support from fellow mixed martial arts personalities such as Ronda Rousey and Joe Rogan, to boxers like Floyd Mayweather Jr., to even entertainment icons in the person of Cher.

As odd as it is to have Cher on his side, nothing could be more surprising than having a former nemesis lend his support.

"Personally, five years, I think it is too much," Georges St-Pierre said in an interview with FOX Sports' Damon Martin. "I think they wanted to use him as an example because this is a colorful character who talks a lot and makes a lot of noise."

Always known as a clean-cut, soft-spoken type of guy, St-Pierre didn't think the half-a-decade suspension on top of a $150,000 fine was just.

"This is a drug, yes, but I think there should be different penalties for certain products that competitors use," he shared.

St-Pierre continued: "Marijuana can help a person suffering from anxiety, but it can't make you physically stronger or more powerful, more efficient. I do not think it should be judged as severe."

GSP has always been a vocal about the flaw in a relatively young sport such as MMA.

In a different interview, St-Pierre voiced his opinion on PEDs, and its ill effects on other fighters.

"I'm not surprised to see certain things," he opined. "There are fighters whose bodies have changed. They don't look like the same fighters as before. I think a lot of people are scared. We have to eliminate the technology factor of the sport."

He followed: "The sport needs to be based on talent, technique, athletic talent and not based on who has access to better technology. If I train with a team who supplies me with doctors and biochemists, obviously I am going to have a huge advantage"

Like GSP, people from all walks of life are not just giving massive support to Nick Diaz following his five-year suspension, but are also calling for this PED epidemic to be completely abolished.

For his part, though it was Nick Diaz' third career failed drug test, governing bodies can't just turn a blind eye from his UFC 183 opponent - the great Anderson Silva - who was also busted, this time for anabolic steroids.
