The itch of fighting inside the UFC octagon may just be back for long-time welterweight champion, Georges "Rush" St-Pierre.
In a recent interview with Montreal, Canada's Reseau de Sports (RDS), GSP shared that he's entertaining the idea of strapping on those 4 oz. gloves and stepping inside the cage once more.
"I'm starting to get the feeling, more and more, to come back," St-Pierre said in French. "I watch the fights to see what's going on in my division, and I'm staying in shape. It's like a knife that I have to keep sharp just in case I ever decide to jump back in the mix."
It has been widely documented that UFC president, Dana White, doesn't believe that St-Pierre will ever return in the octagon.
However, if one is reading between the lines, GSP has never uttered the word "retirement" during press conferences, media appearances, or even that famous post-fight speech after he successfully defended the welterweight belt against Johny Hendricks at UFC 167.
Basing it on his social media posts, Georges St-Pierre is leaving the cage door wide open, as he's currently back sharpening his tools with Firas Zahabi at Tristar Gym.
"I'm training hard," he told RDS. "As you can see, I have some bumps and bruises. I didn't get these from falling down the stairs."
At just 34-years-old, St-Pierre is still considered at the peak of his MMA career.
Yes, he's had a lot of wear and tear from all the grueling five-round, championship fights, but GSP is well-known for being one of the most gifted and disciplined fighters in the UFC.
Though he may have torn his ACL while training last year, Georges St-Pierre has never looked this primed to end the sabbatical and wrap the UFC Welterweight Championship around his waist once again.
