"The Shield" actor Michael Chiklis has shared his thoughts on his character in the second season of the television series "Gotham."
Chiklis came as GCPD Captain Nathaniel Barnes in "Gotham" Season 2. In his interview with The Wrap, the actor said that Gotham was like Cinderella's slipper. The actor also said that the show had cops and robbers, which were character roles that he had done a lot of times. For Chiklis, playing such roles is a "wonderful hybrid of work."
Chiklis' character Barnes came in to defend the city after the villains attacked the GCPD headquarters, leaving a number of police officers lifeless. According to Chiklis, his guy came in to basically "kick ass and take names and push back."
Barnes will not be seen leading from behind a desk, as he is ready for action, as per Entertainment Weekly. In his interview with the publication, Chiklis said that Barnes was a "get-his-hands-dirty" class of guy and he had some badly bruised ribs from a fight scene.
In addition to his cop role, Chiklis said that Barnes would develop a bond with Det. Jim Gordon. According to the actor, Barnes would see Gordon moving down the dreadful path of "ends justify the means" law enforcement and he was not into that, due to the things he had undergone in his past.
Aside from "Gotham," Chiklis is also set to appear in Steven Shainberg's sci-fi thriller "Rupture," which premieres in 2016.
"Gotham" Season 2 Episode 3, entitled "The Last Laugh," aired on Oct.12 while Season 2 Episode 4, entitled "Strike Force," is slated to hit the small screen on Oct. 19.
