Besides taking 10 herbal supplement tablets over three days as substitute for Viagra, ex-NBA player Lamar Odom also took cocaine, according to employees of the Love Ranch, a Nevada brothel, who called 911 to report the athlete's condition when they found him on Tuesday.
Probers got a blood sample from the former husband of Khloe Kardashian to confirm the report. The sample would be submitted to the Las Vegas Metropolitan Police laboratory for testing, says Nye County Sheriff Sharon Wehrly, reports CNN.
Wehrly played the CNN call at a news conference held by Nye County to update the public about Odom's condition. He remains unconscious and unresponsive.
Khloe is expected to make a medical decision on Odom since the couple's divorce is not yet finalized. Besides the reality star, Odom's father and two children are also in the Las Vegas hospital in Pahrump. ESPN reports that the next 48 hours would be crucial to Odom who is fighting for his life.
According to reports, authorities initially planned to airlift Odom to the Sunrise Hospital & Medical Center, but because Odom stands at 6' 10", he would not fit in a helicopter. An ambulance instead drove Odom to Sunrise.
Dennis Hof, owner of the brothel, says, "When they took him to the Pahrump hospital, the people there told us, 'He doesn't look good. He doesn't look like he'll make it, and if he does, he won't be the same,'"
Hof shares that he got a call from Odom on Saturday that he wanted to visit Love Ranch for a few days. He says the basketballer was having a good time until Tuesday afternoon when two female employees checked him and found Odom unconscious. The 911 dispatcher instructed them to roll over Odom on his left side which caused him to vomit, although he remained unconscious.
The legal herbal supplement that Odom took was also sold at the brothel. While Hof says Odom did not take cocaine, the 911 operator who took the call says otherwise.
