The latest "House of Cards" season 4 spoilers suggest that the premiere episode may be about the upcoming presidential election. It was also hinted that Claire (Robin Wright) and Frank (Kevin Spacey) may eventually get back together.
In an interview with The Hollywood Reporter, executive producer Beau Willimon said that the Frank and Claire's separation will definitely shake up the coming episodes, adding that the show mostly relied on the strength of their marriage.
He said that although they were hesitant to explore this plotline, they believed that it would only help the story move forward. Willimon added that they felt excited to be shifting a bit from all the political drama to a more emotional terrain.
Speaking to E! News, Willimon said that they have always wanted to explore more of Frank and Claire's relationship. He explained that they took quite a risk in season 3 when they decided to put more focus on the relationship than the political drama, which paid off.
Willimon shared that several fans were happy about where the series is heading. He added that many of them considered the third season as their favorite.
"We wanted to tell the story of the marriage. I think there were a lot of fans that really appreciated that," he said.
Some of the fans, however, were surprised to see the couple struggle. Willimon said that they received several comments from viewers asking them if they will eventually get back together. The showrunner held that it was important for them to show viewers that Frank and Claire are just like any other couple who experience marital problems.
