Blame it on Kanye West who surprised even his wife Kim Kardashian when he announced during the MTV Video Music Awards in August of a plan to run for president in 2020. He will have a celebrity rival, troubled star Lindsay Lohan, who posted on Instagram on Friday of her plan to run for the same position, also in 2020.

She points to West as her model. Lindsay states, "lindsaylohanin #2020 I may run for president. Through ups and downs#YESWECAN lets do this @kanyewest," quotes USA Today. The post got more than 40,000 likes.

For those who doubt or think that Lohan - who had a history of substance abuse - posted a second message filled with emojis as well as her platform. She writes, "The first thing I would like to do as president of us is take care of all the children suffering in the world."

The New York Daily News, however, points out that Lohan is not even qualified to run. Since she was born on July 2, 1986, she would only by 34 in 2020. The minimum age requirement is 35.

Despite the lack of age qualification, joseph boosong tweets, "Nobody tell Lindsay Lohan you have to be 35 to be president. Just let her do her thang & we'll get some free entertainment in 2020."

However, Sam Kalidi belies that and says she is more qualified than Donald Trump and Ben Carson.

Cinema Blend notes the wide variety of responses on social media on Lohan's announcement, ranging from full support to questioning if she is just pulling everyone's leg for a publicity stunt. The entertainment website cited a response from an Instagram user as most humorous because the one who posted a message prayed for "a progressive, lenient stance on national drug use," noting that such a policy "would make sense" if a "Mean Girls" is the president in 2020.
