Starting the year with a bang, Samsung's Galaxy S7 may be released on Jan. 19, 2016, six months earlier than expected.
Samsung typically drops an elite model biannually, alternating between the Galaxy S and Note series. However, the mobile giant shook things up a bit this year by unexpectedly releasing Galaxy Note 5 at a much earlier date. The move, assumed to counter the record-breaking sales of iPhone 6s phones with 3D Screens, gave rise to speculations that 2016's launch schedule will be different from the past.
The change in schedule could signal a shift in the brand's overall strategy. Rather than launching smartphones across three economic categories, high end, mid-range and low end, Samsung may add a sub-premium tier to potentially cater to consumers wanting solid phone at a reasonable price.
There is a undying rumor that Samsung finally developed its very own chipset and will pack the technology on its next flagship. The chipset is said to be highly advanced and uniquely Samsung, Android Headlines reported.
Another leak claims that Samsung may release two versions of Galaxy S7. One will be backed by a Mediatek while the other will run with Samsung's very own processor.
Another possible cause of the early launch is Samsung's eagerness to unleash its own 3D touch screen.
In September, Apple unveiled the iPhone 6s and iPhone 6s Plus, introducing its next big idea: pressure-sensitive display tech. The 3D screen discerns between the various kinds of pressure when touching the screen, and takes a unique command for a different level of pressure, iDigital Times reported.
It is almost certain that Samsung Galaxy S7 will sport an edge screen design for easy access to messages and other basic functions without disrupting movie viewing.
