"Fifty Shades of Grey" star Dakota Johnson just revealed some of her questionable fashion and music choices at Elle's "Women in Hollywood" celebration.
Johnson, 26, thanked her mum, Melanie Griffith, and her grandmother, Tippi Hedren, for their support in her endeavors. However, she pointed out that she did not appreciate the time when they let her cornrow her hair on vacation which led her scalp getting sunburned.
She additionally mentioned the time when she thought it would be cool to pierce her belly button and wear dangling jewelry from it.
"Also excluding when I went through that phase of listening to Phish, the ska band spelled with a 'P-h' and when I changed my name to my cellular telephone voicemail to Bliss. Basically, I want to un-thank you for all the times I embarrassed myself and I want to thank you from the bottom of my heart for everything else," Johnson said.
After her speech, Johnson received the Calvin Klein Spotlight Award from Leslie Mann.
Mann praised Johnson's performance in "Fifty Shades of Grey" and said that her role was remarkable because she too plays a virgin in the movie. Making a joke about it, Mann said that in real life, she felt like she would have eaten Christian Grey, smacked him open like a piñata and suspended him from the ceiling, E! News reported.
Johnson who earlier got responsively criticized for being cast in the role, beat out other actresses such as Shailene Woodley, Emma Watson, Analeigh Tipton, and Alicia Vikander as possibilities for the coveted role, Fashion N Style reported.
Johnson and Mann will co-star in an upcoming rom-com "How to Be Single" which is set for release in February 2016.
