"Furious 8" actor Vin Diesel did not intentionally show his dadbod to the world. He was recently photographed by paparazzi topless on a hotel balcony in Miami and body-shaming ensued. In a recent interview, he explained how he deals with such issues.
Diesel told BBC's Newsbeat that there are people who process haters differently. For him, he feels sorry for "people who have to cut other people down to feel better about themselves."
"They do it for profit too and that's the dark side of fame," Diesel said of paparazzi and those who publish articles in magazines about weight. He added that he deals with the negativity he gets online by interacting with his fans.
The "Furious 8" star said he does not stay away from the internet, and for him, there is great value in getting feedback in terms of social media. He believes that he has made the "Fast & Furious" films better because of having been able to have a unique relationship with the audience.
Diesel's last film before 2016 is "The Last Witch Hunter," in which he plays Kaulder opposite Elijah Wood as Dolan 37th.
At a recent special screening of "The Last Witch Hunter," Wood told People that if were to be casted in "Fast & Furious 9," he would like to play an illegitimate son of Dominic Toretto, the character played by Diesel.
Joining Wood and Diesel in the cast of "The Last Witch Hunter" are Rose Leslie, Olafur Darru Olafsson, Rena Owen, Michael Caine, Joseph Gilgun, Michael Halsey, Sloane Coombs, Lotte Verbeek, Dawn Olivieri, Inbar Lavi and Armani Jackson, among others.
