The 2016 Hyundai Veloster Turbo was unveiled at the 2015 Chicago Auto Show. As the name suggests, it is the upgraded version of the standard Veloster model. Upon its official release, the car was received with mixed reviews.
The 2016 Hyundai Veloster Turbo has a 1.6-liter four-cylinder turbocharged engine. It is capable of outputting 201 horsepower and 195 lb-ft of torque. It also records between 1,740 and 4,500 rpm. Many critics slammed that Veloster Turbo's engine, pointing that despite its substantial torque it is still not powerful enough.
Another negative remark about the Veloster Turbo is its fuel consumption. The car only manages to score 24 miles per gallon which is one point lower than the EPA estimate of 25 miles per gallon for city ratings. The car has a recorded highway rating of 33 miles per gallon.
Additional specs of the 2016 Hyundai Veloster Turbo includes 6-speed manual transmission and a front-wheel drivetrain. Curb weight is at 2,900lbs. According to Auto Blog, the car can accelerate from zero to 60mph in 7.1 seconds.
Fetching a starting price of $24,775, the 2016 Hyundai Veloster Turbo is the most expensive model currently available. However, it is inexpensive compared to the Volkswagen GTI which costs $26,415. In terms of price to performance ration, the only cars that can beat the 2016 Veloster Turbo will be the Ford Fiesta ST which costs $21,845 and the Fiat 500 Abarth which costs $23,475, according to Auto Blog.
Autoweek road test editor Jake Lingeman posted on a review on its website praising the radio setup of the 2016 Hyundai Veloster Turbo. He also commended the seats, which to him are a bit worn.
