In celebration of the "Back to the Future" Day, Transport Canada decided to poke a little bit of fun by issuing a recall order for the iconic DeLorean car which was used in the movie. The DeLorean is the famous time machine used by the character Marty McFly in the movie.

In the 1989 movie "Back to the Future Part II," McFly went back to the future on Oct. 21, 2015. The date has long since been hailed as the official "Back to the Future" Day by fans of the movie.

In order to join in the fun, Transport Canada issued a recall order for the DeLorean. Citing the car's speed as the main reason for the recall.

The recall advisory was posted on the government agency's website and it reads, "On a certain DMC-12 car converted into a time machine, a defect in the flux capacitor could lead to inability to travel through time while travelling at 88 miles per hour (141.6 km/h) and may increase energy consumption beyond 1.21 gigawatts. This could have disastrous consequences."

Transport Canada manager of media relations and social media Andrea Moritz said that the agency's communication team came up with the idea to issue the recall order on the DeLorean. Moritz added that it is their light-hearted way of having fun since their job usually entails posting important and serious topics.

Moritz told Time that this is not the first time the agency issued recall order with a theme. In December 2014, the agency issued a news release detailing that Santa Claus has successfully passed all his pre-flight inspection, adding that he is ready to take-off.

For some, the joke marks the change of tone for the Canadian government which is preparing for the new Liberal-led federal bureaucracy, according to The Star.
