One of the major advantages of modern consoles is the ability to pre-load games before the release dates. With the preload feature, players can play a game as soon as it is available on release day without having to wait.
Both the Xbox One and PlayStation 4 take full advantage of this feature, but there might be an issue here with the Xbox One and "Halo 5: Guardians."
From what we have come to understand, players who have downloaded "Halo 5: Guardians," which is a massive 46.19GB, may find themselves in a position where they might have to re-download the game all over again.
This is due to the possibility that some preloads might have been corrupted during the download process, and there is no way to fix it without having to complete the task all over again. Why did this happen? Well, the consensus is that it could be because some players have not used the Xbox One's Instant On power mode.
"We know you're excited to finally get your hands on Halo 5: Guardians on October 27, and we wanted to make sure you're ready to jump in right away. If you've digitally pre-ordered Halo 5: Guardians on your Xbox One before September 21 and are NOT using Instant On power mode, you may still have an incorrect "stub file" for the title, which is simply a placeholder file. Players that have this particular version of the stub file will be required to delete it, and reinstall the title," says 343 Industries, developer of "Halo 5: Guardians."
The developer went on to add that those who preordered and pre-downloaded the title on or after Sept. 21 can download the 9GB day one patch; however, those who have pre-downloaded the game before Sept. 21 should check if the game's file size is under 40GB. If this is the case, you'll be required to delete the file and download it again.
